Evaluation is essential to promote an organization's sustainability, effectiveness and ongoing improvement. This session will focus on organizational assessments and evaluation strategies for success. Participants should leave with the ability to identify immediate steps to enhance evaluative activities and increase an organization's ability to adapt over time. The course includes individual and group exercises and samples that participants can use after the training is completed.
The following will be covered during the training:
  • Discussion of the qualities that help create an effective, sustainable, and adaptable organizations.
  • How organizational assessments and evaluative activities can help develop an "adaptive learning organization" over time.
  • Overview of evaluation and a discussion of key evaluation practices for nonprofit organizations (organizational assessment, board assessment, staff assessment, and program evaluation).
  • How to conduct an organizational assessment, with an example from Principles and Practices for Nonprofit Excellence.
  • How to use the results of an organizational assessment to improve an organization's performance and effectiveness over time.
This session will be facilitated by Sarah Marino-Fischler, MPA a Principal Consultant for Partners in Nonprofit Success. For more than 12 years, Sarah has worked with nonprofit and mission-driven organizations across Colorado in a variety of roles including multiple senior staff positions, and as a grantmaker, board member, consultant, and volunteer. Sarah's consulting practice is focused on partnering with organizations to improve their effectiveness and increase mission impact through practical, realistic solutions that encourage innovation and adaptability.
